On September 12, CATL and Shandong Port Group signed a strategic cooperation agreement on the development of smart and green ports. Huo Gaoyuan, chairman of Shandong Port Group, and Dr. Robin Zeng, chairman and general manager of CATL, attended the event and witnessed the signing of the agreement. 

Shandong Port Group, a leading state-owned enterprise in Shandong, is committed to playing the role of a hub platform. In 2022, its cargo throughput and container volumes ranked first and third in the world respectively. CATL, as a global leader in new energy innovative technologies, has a mature industrial layout in EV batteries, energy storage batteries, battery recycling and other areas. It is committed to providing premier solutions and services for global new energy applications through innovations in material and electrochemistry system, structure system, green extreme manufacturing and business model. The signing is not only a new start for both parties to work together and achieve win-win cooperation, but also a major step towards the development of smart and green ports, which will enhance both parties’ competitiveness and open up more business opportunities. 

According to the agreement, the two parties will cooperate in new energy fields including green electricity production, PV energy storage, electric vessels, battery swapping for heavy-duty trucks among others, jointly facilitating the smart and green transformation of ports and high-quality development of Shandong.
